Dear _________,

As to Mr. Boks' numbers, I'd like to share interesting discrepancies between his claim and actual stats from NYC.

The attachment proves that Boks misstated the numbers in NYC. He said he lowered euth down to 43%, however, it was actually 60%. Boks worked full time in NYC from 2004 till the end of 2006. If you look at the chart by year, add the % cats euth'd to % dogs euth'd, you get the correct % euth of cats/dogs. You can also add up # of cats and dogs killed to get the real total. The total they have on the bottom chart for cats/dogs is wrong as is that percentage. The NYC dept. subtracted the owner requested euthanasia of healthy animals, something they said they weren't doing. They also subtracted out unhealthy animals and such.

The correct euth rates in NYC were:

2003: 68%
2004: 66%
2005: 60%
2006: 51%

Boks tried to do the same with owner requested euthanasia of healthy animals in LA as well using the illegal form found in SLA shelter, which I brought to the open, and the form had to be ceased.

According to LAAS website, 1,263 cats and dogs died in their cages (not euth) which is almost double of any previous years.

As you pointed out, there are many other discrepancies between the stats and Boks' claims. One of them embarrassed the Mayor by having him announce LA as the #1, which they had to retract within a week.

As to the inspection, I brought to the Mayor's office a $200,000 audit donation by Best Friends, but Mr. Boks managed to jeopardize this opportunity as well.

I sincerely hope that this fiasco will end soon because in the meantime, animals have to suffer and the taxpayers are mislead.

Graciously,

Marie Atake
