Villaraigosa is hoping to get nominated for Clinton's running mate should she get the presidential nomination!!! Villaraigosa can't even run the city animals shelters, how on earth does he think he can be VICE PRESIDENT??!! Dear _______, As a Los Angeles citizen and member of the humane community, I feel it incumbent upon me to speak out against Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and his present ambitions to become either governor or a Clinton appointee. Villaraigosa has a very dismal track record as Mayor here in Los Angeles in many areas. One has to do with his responsibility for the needless and senseless killing of our city's homeless and lost shelter animals. Los Angeles, under the incompetent leadership of Antonio Villaraigosa, has become REgressive- not PROgressive in our sheltering of animals. In October 2005, Antonio adopted a facade of having the intention of hiring consultant No Kill Solutions (NKS)to consult and implement their proven No Kill Equation, which has proven to drastically decrease the kill rates and increase adoption rates in other municipal city shelters throughout the Nation. NKS was also going to search for a competent individual to oversee the shelters as well; under Villaraigosa the shelters are virtual DEATH CAMPS for animals. Then, local billionaire Gary Michelson stepped in with an offer of a contribution toward a future gubernatorial run in order to purchase the appointment of his then friend and now-reigning General Manager, Ed Boks. Boks was fired from his previous job as General Manager of the New York City shelter system and asked to resign from Maricopa Arizona's shelter system. This was the result of the commissioners realizing that the shelters were not only becoming worse under Ed Boks, but there were constant complaints levied against him as there are in Los Angeles, of his corruption, lying, "cooking the books," and systematically slaughtering tens of thousands of healthy, treatable, and adoptable companion animals that could have been placed in safe and loving homes. Villaraigosa's womanizing is another issue. Just as he reneged on his promises to the trusting humane community, so, too, did he dishonor the vows made to his long-suffering and faithful wife. (Neighbors of Villaraigosa's in his Mt. Washington area home have told activists that he has been mentally abusive to Corina - having affairs when she was pregnant and excusing his behavior by telling her that she was "fat and unattractive.") She had stood by his side for years despite his irascible temper and extracurricular romps. She even took him back after a two-year separation upon assurances of his exclusivity henceforth. We all know how much faith we can place in Antonio's promises! True to form, he was shortly thereafter embroiled in an affair with a female journalist who had the audacity to report on his subsequent divorce their affair engendered! If McCain is getting such bad press for his alleged liaison years ago with a lobbyist, the Democratic National Committee and the Hillary Rodham Clinton campaign should know that Villaraigosa's affairs on his wife and young children make McCain's possible lone indiscretion pale in comparison. The humane community will make sure everyone knows Villaraigosa's dirty secrets if he continues to refuse to do right by the animals. Unless Villaraigosa fulfills his pledge to hire No Kill Solutions as a consultant, activists will make sure that everyone in the State knows his true character. Activists will picket in Sacramento or wherever he attempts to run for office. We will do out best to make everyone aware of his treachery - and lechery. |
