"We, the undersigned employees of LA Animal services and its customers and other concerned individuals, have no confidence in the leadership provided by the department's current management team of Ed Boks and Linda Barth. We feel that, in order to halt the deterioration of the department and improve the ability of its employees to serve the City and its interests, they should be immediately relieved of their responsibilities and their positions of authority in LA Animal Services."

  No mistaking it: with the right mix of monied celebrities and health-conscious herbivores, LA leads America in animal rights crusaders. And almost all of the local crusaders have been against the job done by Department of Animal Services GM Ed Boks from the bumpy start. Still, it's hard to unseat even an unpopular department head, and Boks has been walking evidence of the fact to date. Of the three highest-profile Villaraigosa out-of-town appointments to manage critical LA departments, all have come under intense fire, but right now, the tables appear to be turning most on Boks.

Michigan chronic transit incompetent Gloria Jeff's is already history.

San Diego midlife-crisis career-changer Gail Goldberg's position at Planning is harder to jeopardize, as her job functions are increasingly dictated by the Mayor's office. She seems to academics, however, to have little understanding in distinguishing between sincere academic urban planning studies and developer-driven tropes that mimic the academic but front for development interests.

But with New Yorker Ed Boks' poor performance in a City Controller's audit bringing new scrutiny to Animal Services, the revolution from within is underway.
