Activists visited the neighborhood of Jimmy Blackman's home at 19144 Bessemer St. in Tarzana, California this past Saturday to protest the needless imprisonment, agony and killing of tens of thousands of cats, dogs, puppies and kittens killed each year inside the Los Angeles Department of Animal Services (LAAS.) Jimmy Blackman is the deputy mayor of Los Angeles overseeing the city shelter system, a virtual Death Camp for animals; he's also arrogant, unremorseful and sarcastic about the thousands of animals killed every year, after he oversaw the appointment of corrupt general manager Ed Boks.

Jimmy Blackman and the city of Los Angeles have repeatedly drawn activists into court to try and silence their free speech activities, most recently trying to get a permanent restraining order against two activists from coming within 300 feet of his ex-wife and Blackman's residence. Jimmy Blackman has so far LOST TWICE to activists in court! The judge not only found for the activists, but ordered remuneration of fees the attorney representing the activists' accrued.

In a nut shell, Jimmy Blackman used YOUR TAX DOLLARS to try and win a "Strategic Law Suit Against Public Participation" against activists; but it came back and bit him in the arse! This court case was brought against these two activists several months ago when, with Mayor Villaraigosa's blessing, Jimmy Blackman made a backroom deal with the city of Los Angeles. The 'deal' was to have his ex-wife, a private citizen, get FREE representation by not one, but TWO deputy city attorney's - Vivienne Swanigan and Hugo Rossiter. Jimmy's ex-wife Maria is so deceitful, she falsely accused the two activists of "stalking" her! Why did she purposefully use the word "stalking" on her court documents? Because by using the court form entitled "stalking" the court waived her fee to file the case! Then, add to this Maria Blackman's free round-the-clock representation by the city of Los Angeles paid by taxpayers like you, and you have an idea what kind of vindictive and unscrupulous woman Maria Blackman is.

So to celebrate this victory for free speech, which is rare indeed these days in light of George Dubya's shredding of our Constitution, activists (including those who had their restraining orders dropped) went back to Jimmy's neighborhood where he owns his home, leafleting, educating and rousing the entire neighborhood regarding Jimmy's misdeeds and the resultant, ongoing slaughter at LAAS. As long as Jimmy Blackman refuses to do the right thing for the animals and fire Ed Boks and hire No Kill Solutions, activists will be out in the streets trying to get redress for the killing going as a direct result of Jimmy Blackman, chief of staff Robin Kramer and hizzoner himself, Antonio Villaraigosa.
